REDUCE RISK OF ERRORS FOR COMPLEX ENGINE REPAIRS
Complex tasks require skills and expertise, especially if they are unusual with no automated process. For Jaguar Land Rover, complex tasks mean that the technician needs to stop work, research and compare scenarios to find the appropriate solution. The process is high cost and has a large risk of error. To solve this, the British car maker wanted a solution that would permit the technician to project the individual repair instructions directly onto Range Rover engine within the work environment.
The solution should also guarantee successful repairs by including confirmation steps during the repair – similar to an aviation checklist. Moreover, the app should provide employees any other essential information and safety instructions.
MOBILE APPLICATION FOR TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION
RE’FLEKT developed together with Bosch an intuitive iPad app that projects all necessary repair steps onto the vehicle as a mechanic points his tablet at the Range Rover engine. On screen the mechanic can see all nine repair steps along with additional safety information. It is possible to watch a training video as well as view all the tools and components required to complete the repair – all without opening any other manuals.
Using this simple and logical app, the service technician can fully concentrate on tasks without having to compare parts and tools with images in a variety of manuals. All the necessary information is clearly accessible every single time. The app is also available for Range Rover employees for future training use.
