After incorporating REFLEKT ONE into their digital strategy in early 2017, the leading vacuum pump manufacturer was looking to incorporate Augmented Reality applications for on-site customer support as well as sales activities . Using REFLEKT ONE, Leybold wanted to begin AR activities with their recently introduced TURBOVAC i/ix line of vacuum pumps.
The goal was to allow technicians to visually explore the components and features on multiple devices. In addition, on-site pump users should be able to use Augmented Reality to visualize a common repair scenario to help customers save on downtimes and repair costs through an easy-to-follow step-by-step guide without the need for the paper based handbooks.

HOMEMADE AR FOR AN ENTIRE PRODUCT LINE
The Leybold Maintenance App empowers Leybold customers to visually explore the components and features of its TURBOVAC i/ix line on the iPad and HoloLens. Technicians simply enter X-ray vision to see the pump digitally appear on top of its real-life counterpart with explosion animations to explore the components without having to disassemble the pump. Existing customers or sales representatives can then select each component for more information or order replacement parts directly in Leybold’s e-commerce platform.
For on-site pump users, the iPad and HoloLens application offers a second scenario where users can learn how to/carry out a bearing exchange through an easy to follow step-by-step guide in AR. No more need for outdated paper based handbooks or long downtimes whilst waiting for experienced maintenance technicians to arrive on site – empower yourself with Augmented Reality.
