How do I prepare trimmed objects for REFLEKT ONE Sync?

This article provides a workflow on how to use the trim function within Cortona3D RapidManual to enable smoother tracking.

When preparing the visual aid model, it is recommended to use the appropriate surfaces for tracking. Learn how to prepare your CAD model before creating a tracking configuration in this article.

It is recommended to only select objects that are visible in the real model (e.g. parts hidden behind a wall / door should be excluded). In case non-visible parts belong to objects required to create the tracking configuration, the trimming function can support to create an appropriate visual aid model.

For a step-by-step guide how to trim objects in Cortona3D RapidManual, please watch the video or follow the instructions below.

  1. Select the 3D model or the specific item you want to trim.
  2. Click on 'Edit' and 'Trim Representations'.
  3. A cube will appear around the selected object as shown in the image below.

    1. Choose trim if you want to keep all objects within the square.

    b.   Choose cut if you want to keep all objects outside the square.

  4. Create an assembly of the objects to be used for the tracking configuration.
  5. Merge the assembly.
  6. Export a VRML file.
  7. Reimport the VRML file into Cortona3D RapidManual.
  8. Export the VRML file again and follow the instructions in the article:
'Create a model tracking configuration - Guided process'

NOTE: If parts within the selected assembly are animated, please export the VRML first and then merge the assembly after reimporting.

CAUTION: Do not change the position of the objects after reimporting.
