Reality Report: Augmented and Mixed Reality

From major investment deals to new acquisitions - The last weeks saw some big developments in the Augmented and Virtual Reality fields. The world finally witnessed the unveiling of the much anticipated Magic Leap One device, Alibaba plans to transform its online platform using AR, and Virtual Reality used to save lives for first responders. And Apple has released their latest iPhones which continue to feature AR as a focal point.

MAJOR INVESTMENT DEALS AND AR/VR TRENDS

AR is still a big deal for Apple with the release of 3 new iPhones on September 12. $6 million raised to set up blockchain-based property rights in augmented reality: VERSES a non-profit foundation creating the universal protocols and standards for the Web 3.0 is using blockchain technology to identify specific 3D spaces in Augmented Reality. Alibaba plans to take its shopping experience virtual: E-commerce supergiant, Alibaba Group has recently announced Taobao Buy, an AR infused shopping experience that plans to change how we shop online. A great solution to creating shopping experiences away from the store but behind a laptop.
